Co-parenting

Photo by Ketut Subiyanto from Pexels

Eleven years
Couldn't stop the affairs
Couldn't stop being...
Someone else's man
My son
He looks like his mother
Suitcase packed
No eye contact
I'm so late for my weekend
As expected
I'm so fake with my greeting
As expected
Still
They give me grace
The deepest of acceptance
My son
He looks like his mother
Painting a rosy face

Smile

She is dressed to the nines
Wearing a luxury scent
Well-groomed and manicured
Perfect
Pretty
Pleasant
Classy and ladylike
Always smiling
Because she isn't happy
Still
She smiles
For you

How old were you when you learned that every smile isn't happy?

Birthday Party

Photo by Nachelle Nocom from Pexels

I'm having a party
For the living and the dead
Ring in the present
I'd rather promptness instead
Souls, honored to be remembered
A joy to be present, now
In my human existence
Still alive, forever in my life
I, a soul before birth
Born to look out through...
These windows

Harps

Harps
Make it sound sweet
Bang! Bang!
Walked up to the door
Yeah, I'm outside
Didn't knock
Looked through the window
Saw her inside
Bang! Bang!
Walked backward down the steps
Here I am
Looking in every window, walking down the sidewalk
Hearing a thousand instruments escalating, maxing my mind
When the trumpets sound, it's a triumphant sound
The sound of a thousand angels in Heaven
Telling me to empty the clip
Bang! Bang!
You're dead
You're dead, Kill him off
The sky is about to cry
Bang! Bang!
You're dead
You're dead and done
Dead to me now!
Harps!
