That City

I had no patience for the wind
Nor the breeze chilling my skin,
I had no patience for the waves
Coming in, to greet my feet in the sand,
I wish I would have stayed much longer,
Rushed,
Always timed on my visit.

I remember the walking path, curtained by a bouquet of trees,
Green, yellow, mahogany, and red,
I miss the skyline far off enough
It felt like a staycation, a getaway
Unplanned.

I miss the greasy takeout, chasing napkins
Blowing across the sand,
I miss feeling summoned by the waves,
Far, removed, escaping my cubicle life,
To rejuvenate, to melt the stress away.
