Battlefield

Photo by Casila - Boats in London

I want to rid myself of this thinking
Overthinking,
The war with my mind
This consumption of lost time over possible defeat.

They come for my treasure
For that, I must withstand this war
Their eyes are filled with Greed,
Jealousy,
Envy,
I must protect my soul.

Where do I place my faith?
Ever so deep from them to extract,
So when they attack, my flesh
When I’m mangled, and no more
When the windows to my soul, weep blinding
When I’m bathed in blood
I still have Fight!  I still have Faith!

On this battlefield with the Lord,
With faith so deep within me,
His treasure He will protect
Let them attack!
